Please join us on May 19 at 6pm at Kenton's home, for a potluck wine dinner and his presentation on 'Tax and Legal Considerations for Wine-related Businesses.'
If you own a winery large enough that you have your own accountant, then this isn't for you. But other owners or wannabe owners of small wine-related businesses should attend, to make sure they are minimizing risk and maximizing their lawful tax benefits. We'll cover: the difference between amateurs and professionals; how to plan for 'profit years' and 'loss years;' record keeping; what's deductible; why you should have two businesses; LLCs; trademarks; and how to legally deduct the cost of your wine-business trips to Europe from your other income.
Attendance is limited to the first 16 who RSVP.
Potluck dinner theme: Mediterranean! Bring whatever you want from that region, plus some wine, all to share. But it would be great if some of you would please bring something that (a) is vegan; or (b) has poultry or fish, not red meat; or (c) has vegetables; or (d) doesn't contain regular wheat flour (whole wheat, rice, barley, oat, spelt, are all great); or (e) is Gluten Free in case we have gluten-sensitive folks. Note: The Mediterranean diet uses olive oil (or you can use avocado oil), but not seed oils like canola or sunflower, and it goes light on red meat. Many doctors believe it is among the healthiest diets.
Thank you!
